Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is a series of spin-off games developed by Spike Chunsoft set in the Pokémon universe. The first games released in November 2005 (JP) and throughout 2006 everywhere else under the name Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team. After much success, Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness followed suit releasing in September 2007 (JP) and early 2008 everywhere else. An enhanced remake of the Explorers games under the name Explorers of Sky was released a year later in 2009.
In 2012, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon made the leap to 3D with the release of Gates to Infinity in Japan, releasing to the rest of the world in 2013. The final installment, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, would release in Japan and North America in 2015 and to the rest of the world in 2016.
